I bet at least one person can help me here!
Dell locked the bios on me so I need a program that can O/C for me.
So I'm looking to overclock my processor a bit. Currently it runs at 2.8 ghz with 800mhz fsb...a friend of mine said I'd be able to run it at 3.0ghz easily and I've read online that this particular cpu is great for 3.2ghz-3.4ghz.
I've never overclocked my system before so does anybody have any tips? I think I go in through the bios and do it there but I'd like to get some help/guides/tips before I snoop around.

I'm sure you can get through it in the Bios.
Is it really a Pentium 4? If so I would leave it right where it is. That's an Old Processor that has probably seen Tons of Up time. If you overrclock it now it could damage the processor. At the very least upgrade the heatsink if you do overclock it.
i agree, pentium fours cant really overclock too well without water cooling, only can overclock a tiny bit on air and not really worth it but if you really must overclock then there is a program from gigabyte that lets you change bios whilst running windows for example change then thru your desktop =] i cant remember what uts called but i have it on a disc so if you still need it then get in touch and ill send you it in the post or online =]
also there is a e-manual type instruction boolet on the dick to help you change the bios (includes over clocking) =]
Thanks for the help but I decided to keep it where it is...I'm surprised it can still run games from today rather well.
I was going to get a new comp this year but since D3 and SC2 aren't out yet I see no reason to get a beefy computer. I spent the money on a jeep for offroading :P
