Default Quad-Core - CPU - Who else is getting it?

AMD has dropped to ball. Apparently Intel is the first Co. To come out with the quad core chip. I'm a big fan of AMD and have sworn by their technology as far as gaming goes for the last 10 years i've been building Computers...

But they need to release their own competitor chip soon... i don't want to go to Intel Mobo's/Chipset

I hope you know that quad cores have been out for like a year from both Intel and AMD.

If you want an Intel chip, get an Intel chip. If you want an AMD chip, get an AMD chip. It's as simple as that. Although I don't recommend AMD.

AMD is slower, hotter, more power hungry, and overclocks much less. Intel is faster, cooler, less power hungry, and overclocks like a beast. In the end there's no real debating which is better. One could argue that AMD vs Intel at clock speeds is practically the same without overclocking, but I disagree. The AMD 6400 X2 and the Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 run at around the same clock speeds, but the AMD 6400 X2 comes nowhere close to The E8500 when it comes to performance. Not to mention that the E8500 can be easily overclocked to 4.0GHz on air. AMD chips are harder to overclock not only in the sense you need better cooling, but you also need a really good motherboard. My friend recently bought an AMD Phenom and he barely got a 400MHz overclock. If he had an Intel quad he could easily of gotten a 1GHz overclock.

The difference between AMD and Intel is vast.

Intel works much better and is much more stable. If you want a good processor get Intel. If you want a slower and less customizable processor just for the name then go for it. In the end it's your money.

you are clearly an Intel Fanboy. you have not done your research.

AMD is just as good as Intel. Intel has its advantages as does AMD.

I'm not an Intel fanboy. I'm actually using an AMD processor on my computer, and I love their graphics cards. You'd think that an Intel fanboy would be using an Intel chip. http://i35.tinypic.com/dn2647.jpg

Intel has all the advantages. That's not me just talking. At clock speeds, depending on which processors you use for comparison, they run almost the same. But when it comes down to overclocking, energy consumption, and keeping it cool, Intel is victorious.

Here's something else for you to consider: the E8500 can OC to 4.5 - 4.7GHz on air on just a decent motherboard, the AMD X2 6400+ Black Edition can't.

When you compare AMD to Intel there's just no way AMD can win. That's not me being the fanboy I'm clearly not, that's fact.

I'm not saying AMD chips suck though. AMD has some good processors that run really well. All I'm saying is that Intel is better than AMD.

I'd also like to add that depending on where you live Intel is also cheaper. The low-end Phenoms where I live run for the same as a high-end Intel Core 2 Duo.

i always use intel for my latest projects, when i first made p.c's id use athlon because they were the best for gaming but theyre lacking at the min, i love intel but i know athlon has the potential to be better again and hope that happens, athlon seems alot more.. gaming.. than intel does..
