:O
that build is monstrous. lol that shit will be able to play Diablo 5 when it comes out LOL
I'm a giant fan of Diablo 2. I used to play it so much that the only way I would stop is if I ran out of internet time. Back then I was using dial-up. I remember the thousands of Baal runs I did, they were awesome.
What would have made that experience even better was a big monitor, surround sound speaks, a nice keyboard, and a nice internet connection.
The internet connection issue has been resolved. I went from 56Kbps dial-up to 1.5Mbps ADSL.
Now all I need is the big monitor, the surround sound speaks, and a nice keyboard.
After careful consideration, I've decided to go with a more high-end machine. I want to be able to play Diablo 3 like no other.
Here's what I've come up with:
- Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 (this processor overclocks like a monster. If it ever comes down to where I have to get something stronger, I can overclock this baby to 4.0GHz on air)
- Radeon 4870 (I read that this card will run just about anything you can think of. It's a bit pricey compared to the 4850, but it's almost, if not, twice as fast as the 4850)
- An Asus motherboard. It's a good one, but I forgot it's name.
- 4GB RAM (I tend to run quite a few processes which I tend to forget to disable or turn off when I game)
- 640GB hard drive, Samsung (lots of space is needed these days, what with the anime I watch and the games I want to install)
- A 22" TFT Asus monitor that is yet to be decided on
- Windows XP/Home (I don't want to risk bugs when I buy the game, so I will play it safe and get XP or Home)
- Some sound card and a sound system which I forgot the name of
- G11 or G15 keyboard
- G9 laser mouse
So, what do you guys think?
I might or might not get this computer. It all depends if whoever promised me this machine lies or not. It's probably a lie, but it seems real. Until I've got concrete information of me not getting this machine, I will dream.
I know it's overkill for Diablo 3, but I won't risk it.

hehe nice setup
Are you paying for this comp or is somebody giving it to you? Cuz if you get it for free go for it!
Personally my computer is on the brink of extermination with modern games...will be extinct within a year. My plan is to keep saving until the specs are released at the minimum. Since technology keeps getting cheaper as the years go by, the computer you're looking at might be hundreds of $ cheaper by the time D3 comes out.
So the question is, if it's free - go for it, free stuff is free stuff
if not - are there other games you're looking at playing until D3 that can benefit from the awesome raw power of a 4.0 ghz dual core?![]()
The below statement is true.
The above statement is false.
There are tons of other games I want to play. My idea for a new computer came the second I saw the first footage of Diablo 3, so I call it my Diablo 3 computer.I want to try the latest FPS game, a few MMORPG's like Age of Conan, maybe one or two RTS, and GTA4.
And it's a free computer.![]()
Just an update (no, I haven't gotten it yet)...
I'm dropping the Core 2 Duo E8500 and replacing it with the Core 2 Quad Q9550. The Q9550 runs are 2.8GHz per core. I'm also going to go from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM.
I start deleting some files that have to stay deleted. I use a shredder software. It's taking up 100% of my CPU usage and performing even the most basic tasks is near impossible.
I want to be able to game, but I also want to be able to browse the internet without waiting.![]()
my PC browses the internet without waiting.
anything over 3 GB of memory (RAM) is a waste currently. sure, your OS and Mobo will support it. but unless your making videos on Adobe or using CS4 it's a waste.
