Clan Duels
This is just a thought... but what if, instead of people starting clans outside the game in forums... what if "DIABLO 3" adopted the idea of players "creating" and "joining" previously created clans, within the game itself..? So people can see what clan you're in... if you're really in the clan you say you're in... Have Clan Duels... Clan Statistics...
But again... this is just a thought.

I think thats an insanely great idead and they should have clan wars and to add to your thoughts they could have certain games that the admins of d3 could host and have that server/game completely deadicated to that type of pvp and such
because im really tired of people just going in and pvping you when your trying to kill some1 else its kool for a while but get extremely annoying
preset clans would ease the clan-management (or mis-management) of many guilds that form in games but die out because the leaders don't retain membership...And instead of lots of small clans, guilds...etc a few larger ones would make players able to recognize "hey, I don't like that clan" instead of "who are you?"

D3G has tournaments. im thinking of setting up a function where you can enter your clan tag before your name. that might be pretty cool
my only thought would be itd take away from the game in the sense its meant to defeat diablo, not other players. it offers another branch of the game, which im all for, just saying it takes away from the main role of the game.
