    Default Diablo 3 Loot Generation

    What what kind of loot system will be in place of diablo 3. Will it be your regular.. kill a rat and have a pole fly out of it's ass? or will it be structured to the mob you kill..

    I.E. Kill a rat ---> get a gem Kill a Demon ---> Find an axe/armor.

    From what it looks like in the gameplay vid's it seems like we're in for some traditional looting system. Blizz stated they are going to remake it and tweak it but i don't see much of a difference

    Yeah, it never made much sense when a Quill Rat dropped a bright ancient armor (I did love the little brat though ). On the other hand, don't you think if only big mobs dropped weapons and armor you'd be going after the same poor demons over and over again? Not that this wasn't so in D2 but still...

    I quite like the current system and would love to see it in D3. It wouldn't be too much fun if you had to kill only a group of monsters to get a certain item, because it wouldn't drop off of anyone else. I remember perfectly when a tal's ammy dropped of a worm (defiler's spawn) on act V back in 1.09. Even tough unrealistic, that's what makes the game unpredictable and fun to play.

    Yeah, exactly. I think we can cut them some slack on the whole realism thing here

    I'd like it if they tweaked the system to be more realistic.. lets face it there's going to be a wealth of things to kill that would fit into any catagory of drops.. (archers for ranged weaps, casters for caster drops, rats for gems/rings, demons for the big stuff) granted i dont want to see it narrowed too much but it'd be nice to know what has a better chance on certain drops..

    so long as they dont make it too specific where we are farming the same mobs.. i'd prefer diverse realistic drops.. no rat spears but a sword from a caster is fine

    Even if they keep it not-so-specific, don't you think we'd still be encouraged to make the same runs if certain monsters are more likely to drop certain items? I mean, if you're looking for some fucking grand one-shot-killing bow, aren't you going to go after the skeleton archers if this gives you even slightly better chances of getting it?

    Put a mark down for another person who believes that the drops should be a little more realistic.

    Putting in my 2cents...

    hmm that isn't a bad idea, as long as say a bow can also drop off other mobs and not just archers because that kind of rate is bogus. But it certainly is a good idea
