think this was only for the demos, dont know if its set in stone yet or not that this is how d3 will be.
It case some did not know in Diablo 3 you will not have the option of placing your attribute points where you want them.
"Gone is the old system where players had to manually assign points to one of four stats (Strength/Dexterity/Mana/Vitality). In the new system, points are automatically assigned to each attribute upon the character’s leveling up based on the character’s class."
Personally I think this is a bad move. I, like a lot of people would research the max str/dex you needed for elite gear you planned on wearing, and dump the rest of your points into vit or mana.
Your thoughts...
think this was only for the demos, dont know if its set in stone yet or not that this is how d3 will be.
It does not seem that way according to this interview.

true, and Bashiok even defended the autostat idea. just saying im not sure its 100% yet, as with a game not anywhere near release, nothing is finale. heres that bashiok tidbit if youre interested.
Diablo 3: Stats Points
idk about you guys, but i liked the fact you can CUSTOMIZE your guy. however extreme or stupid it ended up to be, thats how you learned how to make builds, and it gave the game some form of replay-ability
yea theres pros and cons to each method. once you figure out how much strength you needed to use the best equipment, you just pumped the rest into vitality though. so really its not really taking any customization away because once its learned how much should go into strength to wear decent stuff, everyone will go that route.
I'm not so sure.. I think it will be great.. The only thing i dont like is that it'll be like a certain class can were elite armor becuz they will have nuff str but another class wont be able to... Idunno.. Thx for the interview thos it was cool to watch
Regarding this point, it is really not the fault of the stat point assigning feature. It boils down to how well designed and useful the game features are. Same thing will happen to traits, charm, equipment system that replaces this stat system if it is not done right as well.
In a related note, why can't they just give an autolevel button for the newbie and allow the experience players to assign the stats themselves?!!
Why the mistrust of the players?
tell me about it, i want the ability to customize the crap out of my character. doing that with stats will make it so much better. what if blizzards version of stats isn't as good as roll a player can make? then what? the system basically gimps you or at the least limits what you can possibly..
At that point you have to hope that Blizzard recognizes this and releases a patch to fix it or allow users to choose... With how much potential D3 has for success (and with its potential to surpass D2 in sales and longevity), I can't see Blizzard keeping a broken system for long, especially if realized shortly after the release of the game. That would just be a disaster for them because it would ensure people don't play D3 for the next decade.
