From what I've heard and read, there will be no potions. Instead they are replaced with runes that are dropped from monsters. Is this true?

RAz, thanks for that quote!
Seems like there's hope yet. I just love it when they publicly distance Diablo 3 from WoW.
What bothers me about no potions is that if you want to kill stronger monsters, how do you? To get health, you have to kill. But if you can't kill, then what? You'll be stuck at weaker monsters, which is most of the time boring.
It could be just me, but I loved killing the stronger monsters. It was always boring for me to 1 hit everything and never die.
Even though there hasn't been an official statement I'm pretty confident bosses will drop health globes when you're attacking them. I can also see health globe shrines being implemented throughout the game like God Of War and Devil May Cry.
No matter what, I will probably still use whatever version of potions they have like I did in D2.
Although with them implementing a currency system where gold is worth something, Buying potions (or whatever they will make potions into), is going to cut into the gold you have for trading with other people. This might be a small part of why they are going with heal globes, so people don't have to spend gold on potions.
No potioooons?? Items with life leach of 110% I guess :P. loool "We tried a Halo kind of shield system with a very quick regeneration, but it didn't give us the effect we wanted. It forced players to leave combat to recover health and we never want that".
It would be nice to have a shift+skill to hold up your shield and have a +% to blocking, like max block is 75% but with skill you would have 90%. The fun thing would be is you could block ele attacks. Like a bone spear or a fire ball(explodes on shield).
Health globe drops and everybody on the screen runs for the globeor an extreme version of lt cold rase the survivability chances.
