Jay Wilson: Yeah, we call them “Followers” now, but we are bringing them back. We have not announced any kind of information on them, so we are not really talking about them, yet. I can say that they are a big improvement over the Diablo 2 mercenarys. They are definitely a lot more interesting, but we will be revealing something about them at a future time.
Jay Wilson said these new followers will be a big improvement over the current d2 system.
What Improvement do you think they will implement?
I'm thinking the following:
- Fully customizable - armor, weapons
- Ability to provide class support (ie: if i'm a barb, my follower can be a Witchdoctor)
- Ability to reach lvl 99 just like you main
- the ability to switch to support roles - ie: attack, support, etc
- Ability to tell your merc where to go. ie: you clear 1 room. your follower can clear another?
What other options do you think will be available?

i like this idea, being able to make a 'follower' as a main class. maybe have it so they can only have 2 buffs, 2 passives and 2 main skills. i dont think itd be fair to allow them the entire stats trees.Originally Posted by XStealth6

I bet there will be a hotkey that you hold down and it allows you to control your merc...attack/move only though
